Some loser stole the clear corner from my 2000 e46. Ordered a replacement from Rockauto, but it was the curved model that I now know is different from what I have. The only ones I see that look like they'd fit are the amber lens.
I want to keep the cost as low as possible since this is a non-mechanical part. How can I be sure of getting one that fits? Can I simply get one off ebay or some other source with the slanted (not curved) angle, or are there some of those that also won't fit?
Thanks... I was hoping to spend even less than that, but that may have to do.
Question, if you happen to know this... Why does that difference in bulb contacts matter? Or does it? The person who stole mine was good enough to leave the bulb and housing completely intact, so maybe that wouldn't matter in my case... Not sure.
Im not really sure about a difference in the bulb contacts, maybe someone else will chime in on that. If the person left the bulb plugged in and all that wiring is still in tact, then it seems like you just need the actual lens.
BTW, cheaper parts don't fit as well and don't last as long. IMO, khoalty is the best bang-for-the-buck without going OEM.
EDIT: Maybe im not understanding your question. Make sure you order lights for the sedan vs. coupe if that's what you have and pre-facelift vs. post-facelift. Maybe post a pic of what you got from rockauto.
You have a 2000 328i, pre facelifted Sedan. You need to order corner lenses for a preface sedan and Not a Coupe and not the later 2002 up years. Yes the ambers will fit (and likely stock) as long as its for a pre facelift sedan. Years 99-01. But if you want to be ultra safe order for a 2000 328i.
Everybody I know got theirs from Ebay, me included. Came with bulbs and sockets. Same price, but if you feel safer buying from Khoality, then hey... but that's 2 places to get them for $25. Can't go wrong.
Just to complete this... Khoalty was more like $40 with shipping, and yes, considering this is a replacement for a non-mechanical, piece-of-plastic part that some jackwagon stole from me... Then yes, I didn't want to spend $40. (For the record I've never used anything less than OEM on any mechanical part in my car.)
I ended up ordering those depo ones off ebay. I was in a hurry because I've been driving with a bare turn signal bulb and frankly I was afraid that could get me pulled over. The lens looks fine and like bino said, even came with bulbs installed which surprised me. Fit isn't very good, but that could be because something broke in there that I think part of the housing is supposed to attach to. Doesn't look very good but it'll have to do, at least for now.
