My Ride: 2006 M3 ZCP IB
well guess what happened today ...




timeline:

was on WOT (was warmed up of course) for 3 - 5 seconds
everything seems fine
1 minute later
steam was coming out of the driver side hood
pulled over immediately
upper radiator hose was disconnected

about the car
121K miles 04 ZHP steptronic (for now)

upper, lower radiator hose, water pump, EXP tank & cap, belts were replaced @ 100K miles (7-2011) (i guess it's not oem)

Parts are on the way i thought i'd share

well guess what happened today ...

I pulled over to see if I could help an e46 who had the same thing happen. Looks like the manufacture used both glue an that metal clamp to strap it to the hose end connector. The guy however had his car on during this whole time.

I was like, "um.... You might want to turn your car off. Whys your temp gauge showing?" He goes, "all the way red"

well guess what happened today ...

Same exact thing happened to my buddy's ZHP at an autocross a few weeks ago. Turned out his motor mounts were toast (came out in pieces) and he thinks that may have pulled on the hose. Might be worth a check.

he didn't want his newly done nails to be damaged

Yeah the funny part was he told me he planned on fixing it by strapping on a hose clamp. I just shrugged and said "hope you didn't blow a head gasket man" because the whole time he had it running, steam was just billowing out of that hose. I can't understand why he don't turn it off. He even said he knew of this problem, had try to ghetto duct tape it already and was too busy to go get that clamp
