Steering feels loose

I noticed when I have low pressure in my tires like almost flat the steering feels tight. When I inflate the tires to around 32 or 34 the steering feels loose. Anyone familiar with what the cause could be?

Steering feels loose

Less air means more tire surface on ground and more drag

I've seen threads on this, often a "steering guibo" here is a DIY, but search more too. http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?p=13077875

OP you also have an 01 e46 which BMW tried an over boosted steering setup that year so you may just be feeling that. They went away from that setup in 02 to get that tight BMW feel back.

Search "over boosted steering" you will get 5 pages of threads about this. I also have a 01 330ci so I know what you are talking about. I replaced my steering rack with one from 04 e46 and the problem was solved, now my cars steering feels more like the other 6 BMW's that I have owned since 1982.

That's kind of what I thought at first before I looked to see what year OPs car is. I've never heard of someone letting all the air out of their tires to test the steering so this is definitely a little strange.
