O2 sensor help .

Hey i was told by someone that if one short term fuel bank was running at 4.7 and one at 9.4 . Then my first is lean . He also told me to take a look at my o2 sensors but i dont really know what im looking for . Can anyone tell me if my o2s look like they have been running lean ? Or even rich?

Not sure why you would be worried about the visual look of an O2 sensor when if you have an OBDII scan tool it will allow you to know exactly what is going on.

Also STFT are not the best think to watch for overall mixture conditions.

You need to look at LTFT, STFT and even look at the O2 sensor Voltage waveform.

If the car has original O2 sensors, they are due for a refresh, 100k miles is all that should be expected out of modern day sensors. They sometimes fail much earlier, sometimes the last longer. Rarely does an O2 sensor trigger a code for actual performance, they usually trigger a code for a failed heater.

If these are 4 wire O2 sensors, easiest to graph the sensors from a cold start to determine their performance.

Also modern engines rarely run Rich, they almost always run Lean.

Visual inspection is like reading Tarrow Cards, kind of guesswork IMHO.
