E46 M3 SMG Trouble Shooting

First post here, however I have done lots of reading.

I have a 2004 BMW M3 (E46) with the SMG transmission, and I love the SMG transmission. The dreaded cog came up and I brought it to my mechanic and this is the code I received:

P0750 Shift Solenoid A Malfunction (Image)

Sometimes it will not go into gear, sometimes it will not change gear (I will be stuck in a gear), and as of recently it says I am in a gear but it is kicking me into neutral it seems. And once it wouldn't start.

My mechanic and I have tried many things such as replaying the salmon colored relays, checking the SMG fluid levels. We don't believe it is the hood sensor.

I really want to stay with my mechanic as we are close friends and he is really skilled, however we are at a loss and could use some help troubleshooting this problem. Any ideas on where to start or how to fix this?

Thanks in advance,
