My girlfriend hate this

Hi Fanatics!

I recently bought a Bmw 318, E46 from a norwegian version of Craigslist. With high expectations, hope and plans I made a build thread on Stanceworks. A month later (yesterday) I got pulled over by the police in Oslo and now I have 14 days to raise the coilovers and buy some 15's. And since norwegian winter is coming, I will probably not lower it until next summer.

I now a lot of people dont like slammed/stanced/putholedivers but some of you hopefully will.

So this is what my car looks like for 13 more days.

Wheels

#Front
Artec 8" wide 17" -et 16 with 185-40r17

#Back
Artec 10" wide 17" -et 18 with 215-40r17

Why do they care and why 15's?

I'd pull you over running a stupid tyre stretch like that.

Cops did the right thing.

All for stance look. But learn some basics on tyres and the what happens to them under extreme stretch and under camber. You might as well run around with 4 emergency spares for the amount of road contact you have.

Thought the trend now was heading to slightly oversize with white brand lettering of choice ?

Because it is dangerous.

"More Low" equates to no suspension travel and poor handling, which equals dangerous.

Also the reason for keeping the same size wheel as factory is most bigger wheels weigh a lot more than the factory wheel increase stopping distance. This obviously isn't always true but most of the time it is.

Can you appeal for a larger size wheel in Norway since 17's and even 18's were a factory option or do you have to stay with what is on the cars door jam?

Also the car does look pretty good BTW.

What exactly was the problem, or was it a combination? Too low, dangerous and dumb tire size, extreme offset, or excessive camber? Option e all of the above?

Would you have a problem if it was just sitting low?

But it looks so f**king good tho.
But no, they didn't mind about the strech, even though they should.

The reason they stopped me was because of the sparks under my car. Lol. But then they saw my wheels and because it does not say the right size in the papers, I can either change or appeal. But changing is cheaper.

There is no problem driving on bigger wheels, but they need to be listed in the papers.

it's too bad your pictures are so incredibly dark, none of us can really see what the wheels you are being forced to remove look like on your car.

OP....
My Pss9 system is smaller than OEM and the travel is the same and + is adjustable (1.3" drop).....so saying is dangerous just because is low is incorrect. Same as poor handling... Performance cars lower the center of gravity for a reason. Cheap coils are dangerous. A properly tuned suspension is better than OEM...in fact, OEM are just good enough for average driving. the caliper's pistons and the tire type can help you to improve stoping time (BTW the taller the car, the less likely to stop faster compared to a lowered one). Smaller wheel or tire doesnt mean smaller overall diameter..as an example: most sport cars are rocking 19" and 20" wheels. If you do things right, you will save money and make your car very functional. the goal is to make it better..not just looking better. I used my car in winter snow and summer....super low. Just used different wheel+tires setup fo r the winter.
