Stuck in Limp-Mode

Hi,
I have a 2006 325i and it seems to be stuck in limp mode. It has done it a coupe times before but I simply just shut the car off and turned it back on and it would be gone. Now it came on again after I hadn't drove it in a about a week and it was extremely cold out and won't go off. I've ran the basic scanners on it but it won't pull transmission information. I have also tried to do a reset of the transmission (putting the key on 2 and holding the gas peddle for 30 second) and that does not seem to do anything, and in fact I don't think it ever resetted. Would be great to get some advice, thanks.

my 330i trans keep going into limp awhile back. I cant remember which, but one of the ebox fuses kept blowing and that would send it into limp mode. the yellow cog w/ exclamation mark would light up on the dash - fuse would blow every time engine was started; turned out to be a short in the o2 sensor wiring harness. Low battery voltage can also cause trans limp mode or trans failsafe mode. I had this happen with my 540i. Same as you say i could turn the car off and back on then it would be gone. I replaced the battery in the 540i and trans fail hasnt happened since. Seeing as how you say it was extremely cold I would look at the battery voltage because cold weather is especially hard on car batteries. According to AAA's Automotive Research Center, at 0F, a car's battery loses about 60 percent of its strength and at 32F it loses 35 percent. During cold temperatures starting an engine can take up to twice as much current as needed under normal conditions. Give your battery a good charge and see if the limp mode is gone next time you start the engine.
