E46 320 msport - blowing/popping noise when warm

Hi guys, this is my first post on here, so let's hope we can solve the mystery!

I have recently purchased a 2004 e46 320i Msport saloon (129k on the clock), it has just been through (and passed) an MoT.

It drives really well and on the whole, I am pleased with it... but... it may have developed a problem...

When I drive it for 10/15 mins or more (so when warmed up) at motorway speed (70ish) and I accelerate, It makes a blowing / gurgling (like as if you have a hole in your exhaust or the sound I imagine a scooby Impreza makes!) if i let it decelerate naturally in gear, it makes a popping noise (not loud but noticeable)... I have had the exhaust checked today and the guy said it's fine.

The car is not affected in anyway, so no loss in power/acceleration, no warning lights, no smoke from the exhaust...

Any ideas? Thanks all in advance.

Don't drive it again until you inspect your DISA.

Thanks Sschwab, Mtek in Northampton suspect it's associated with the manifold - going in tomorrow for a 'once over' so fingers crossed!
