I need help identifying this annoying noise that I keep hearing. I want to know where it's coming from and what's causing it. Please help.

that's the noise I'm talking about. I can't tell where it's coming from. It just randomly starts so I can't reproduce it.

That's really hard to identify. You sure we're talking about the same noise? I imagine anything that bad would be very obvious. Sounds like the sound system??

Turn off everything until the noise is gone including blower fan, ac, radio, engine. Then back on one at a time, ignition position 1, then 2, then start it. Then turn on things one by one.

Re: e46 in cabin noise

Is your engine running when the noise is produced?

The noise is produced only when the engine is on. And yes Mango we are talking about the same sound the high pitched you hear on the video. Other noise on the video is the sound of the car being driven in slow speed. The noise btw isn't speed related because this happens when I'm on the freeway.

It probabbly static from your radio . Usually this happens when your ground is not connected properly on your radio components

Resurrecting an old thread here. I've been having the same exact noise and its driving me crazy. It sounds exactly like your noise, it is totally independent from speed, is there regardless of if the radio or climate control is on. It only lasts 5 to 10 minutes then it goes away. It sounds like it's coming from either the gauge cluster or the tweeter mounted on the door.

Did you ever fix this problem?
