fuel pump noise from outside

Quick thread to see if you guys could share your experiences with how loud your fuel pump is from outside of the car. I replaced mine about a week or so ago and everything has been good. Didn't fix my rough cold idle dips but may have improved slightly. The noise I hear is nothing unusual, just the pump running. I can't hear it from inside the car unless I put my ear up to the rear seat probably. Although from outside I can hear it running, it seems to be louder than before I replaced it. Is this normal? It seems normal, maybe a tad too loud but just wanted to see what you guys think. I'm 99.9% sure the gasket is seated properly (inserted gasket before pump when installed and triple checked it.) I'll probably replace the gasket this spring for the sake of 15 year old rubber.

You can hear the pump from outside the car, it may be louder than the old one because is was likely on the way out.

Make sure you seated the pump in the tank properly, I recall there is some spring loaded bottom part that needs to be seated correctly.

fuel pump god! Thanks for the reply. I think I'll grab a gasket and pull it out to double check within the next couple of days. The spring loaded part, is that the level sensor part you're speaking of?
