No start problems, new EWS maybe bad DME??

I've recently started having issues with a bunch of things needing to be replaced but now I'm having no start issues with my e46 330i.

I got it to work for about a week after replacing my EWS and getting a new key programmed to it but the other day when I went to start it would crank but it wouldn't start up.

I know it's not my fuel filter or pump, battery or my starter so I guess I'm lost. The guy that programmed the ews and key to my car said he needed to redo it because it deleted the code, how is that a thing?!

Do I need to reprogram my DME, buy a new one or could it be something else completely? I'm still learning as I go so a little help would be great!!

First of all we need to find out if your car is equipped with MS45 or MS43. Could you take out the DME in the engine compartment and take a sot of the labels on top of it?

Ok, so I just opened it up and I have an MS43 DME.
Is it a normal issue to delete key code memory or something?

So as you have a MS43, you can easily flash your ecu with ews delete software to test if it does the trick.

If so, you can either use it like that or purchase a used DME and virginize it to match it to your ews unit.

The latter is ~50$ for a used part and another 20$ for an obd interface.

Head over to the general section of this forum and search for MS43 ews delete

Thank you!!!

And if that doesn't do the trick I can pretty much deduce that it's not my DME altogether, yeah?

Problem is MS43 will go out of sync with EWS module, electronics are getting old and this will become more common. I sell already flashed MS43 with removed EWS block so it will work all the time. Contact me via PM
