Help please

Hi all I have a e46 318i 2003 really in love with it and it's only done 62000.
However a problem has came along where when I'm driving if I take my foot off the accelerator to change gear the radio turns off and all the lights in the car kind of go dim and it will continues to do this until the engine cuts out but when the engine does cut out the lights are all bright as usual radio comes back in fine but the rev counter will stay at 1 and the EML light comes on then I turn the car off and it's like none off it ever happened for another day or 2. Any feed back or suggestions would be great! Cheers for reading!

Read the trouble codes of all modules with BMW Scanner 1.4.
Check battery voltage with engine off and engine on.

Use the OBC to display the charging Voltage. See the Hidden OBC Menu info here - http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=239619

Sounds like a charging/battery/engine to body ground problem.

Modules and accessories are shutting down due to low Voltage.

Proper battery Voltage should be 12.6 Volts.

Proper charging Voltage should be 13.5-14.5 Volts.

As I read the OP and the symptoms the first thought that came in my head was Voltage Regulator.
