Rust help

Hey guys, I looked around on the forum and online but it wasn't much help. I need your guys' help. I've recently discovered this rust under my fuel cover. I've had this 2002 325i since July 2017. You can see that there was rust here before.

The reason that I'm coming to you guys is that, in my present situation, I cannot get it fixed. It is sitting in my garage for the next months for other reasons. My question is, how urgent is it that I fix this rust? I of course want to get it fixed as soon as I can but right now I just can't. Will it just get worse? Is there anything I can do to stop it? Thanks!

Rust never stops. It will come back. It will show up in other areas.

I have a 2001 with only 93k on it and the hood, trunk, quarter panels and underneath doors on both sides are all rusting.

The 3 things I've learned:

1) Don't buy so old again.

2) Buy a different brand.

3) Learn to live with it.

There are lots of products that claim to stop rust but the only way is to cut out the old and weld in new metal. Sand blasting and treatments will slow it but not stop it. When you live in the rust belt like I do you just try to live with it.

I'm not really worrying about it, just never dealt with it and thought it was more treatable. Not worrying about it then still love my beems
