325i 2001 Transmission

So I need help here my fellow E46 bros and gals. I bought the 325i 01 for 1,000$ @ 128k has rough idle and recently started turning off while driving on cold start. I blew the transmission and won't go in reverse. I know the rough idle is fixable and I think thats why the car is turning off. But I was wondering is 1800$ a good price for trans rebuild ? and is it even worth it on this car ? Any advice would be appreciated !!!

Depends on what the the trans shop is going to do for the $1800 ?

Also depends on the shape of the rest of the car.

Well i found a trans for 1K @ 77kMiles

And my an installation at 500 apart from trans fluid.

The car runs great. I'm trying to make it a decent project but the snow messed up my trans and now thats a big set back. But for the price of the car is great i got so im debating to fix up the trans.

I doubt the snow messed up the trans. If you search around these forums enough you'll find that the ZF transmissions with no reverse is a common wear item caused by a bad reverse drum.

You might also want to consider the ZFs have other common problems like the pump seal. So getting another ZF may not be the end of it.
