auto-folding mirrors question?

When I bought my car, the previous owner did a swap for 2006 M3 mirrors on my 2003.5 M3. The mirrors are memory, and the switch is "manual folding memory".
I found this thread http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=900070 and its great, but I can't tell if my mirrors are auto-folding and I just have the wrong switch installed and/or its not programmed.

Anyone know how to check?

thanks

When you say the switch is "manual folding memory" is this saying its just a stock mirror switch now?

Likely you do not have "auto folding" mirrors. This was more an option in Europe or (ROW) and not really advertised here in usa. to get here a mirror set would be ordered by bmw dealership with motors in it and installed after if it had them on the car.

I suppose if you suspect you have autofolding mirrors you could swap out the mirror switch to the auto fold switch.
Other way would be to know the connector's wire colors and see/cross check it to an auto fold one. Check the part number on the wiring harness.
Lastly would be to take apart and inspect for the motor in the mirror arm.
