Fixing "Coupe Window Won't Always Go Down When Window is Opened"

Hey all,

So I'm attempting to fix the "Coupe window won't always go down when door is opened" issue (on my 2002 330Ci) discussed in this thread:

http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=459487

I've tried solutions suggested in that thread, unfortunately to no avail, and now am on to replacing the window regulator.

However, I have found I can purchase the regulator and motor separately... Should I replace the regulator or the motor?

Thanks in advance for you help!
J
