Need help on Bmw decision

I've been letting my Dad drive my '03 325i for about a month now & he's fallen in love with it. I've been looking at E36 Bmw's for a while so i could have something to have fun with & he told me he would buy me one if i let him keep the E46. I was looking for a coupe but not sure which one exactly to choose. I want something quick with power but not a M3. Need help with this because im not very familiar with E36 models. Thank you

Unfortunately the best E36 model is the M3 which is still considered under-powered compared to almost any E46. Just my two and a half cents worth...

A 1999 e36 328i coupe is hardly underpowered.
It's about the same as e46 328i

Just remember the oldest e36 is 15 years old. I have one. Things start to wear out.

My friends 325is 5 speed is pretty fun to drive around! Doesn't compare to the M3 though. Why not get an E36 M3? they're dirt cheap now...

i'd go with a 328is...i had an e36 and miss it and think it drove better then my 330. Felt more like a drivers car, and had a more mechanic feel to it And an e36 328 would be quicker then your e46 325

E36 M3 has 240hp stock, that's more than any non-M E46.

OP, I'd suggest a manual 328i, same power, as the E46 328i, but lighter weight and cost a lot less, than the M3.
