Rearview Mirror Auto-Dim

My rearview mirror seems to have all of a sudden gotten stuck on the auto-dim tint setting but there is an oval of non-tint in the center of the mirror and it has been stuck like this for about a week. I do not know what caused this and I do not know how to fix this.....?

there is a light sensor in the front and back of you auto dim mirror. you could check for something blocking one of the sensors. you can also test by shining a light on one or the other sensors and see if it adjusts.

but i think it's just broken. these do that inside. there is a recent thread on two places that can repair your mirror. or buy a used one in the sites Classifieds.

oh btw when these break sometimes the fluid inside leaks out on interior. mostly in hot climates. it's caustic and ruins leather and plastic in some severe cases. not trying to scare you but give you a heads-up to keep an eye in it (no pun intended)
