My first BMW - 2000 BMW 330ci 5sp Automatic

After doing the introduction post, I thought it be time to start my car's thread on this forum. This is my first BMW, even though my friends have owned them for years. One has a E38 735il & the other a E46 330ci too.

Without further ado, here she !

I'm the third owner of the car and picked it up in December of 2016. Everything is going well so far, had someone checkover the car before I bought and all we could see wrong was a small leak from the gasket.

A little bit about the car. I bought it with 110,000kms in December, and now it's on 111,600kms (69,345 miles). Came with a full service history and two sets of keys. Owner was selling because he bought an Aston Martin. In November of 2016, it dump it's coolant on a road trip because the expansion tank sprung a leak. Good thing for me is that it was overhauled and replaced, along with coolant and then pressure tested so I know that's one less thing I will need
According to a VIN search, it has the following options:

205 Automatic Transmission
249 Multifunction Steering Wheel
261 Side Airbag for Rear Passenger
290 BMW 17" Style 44 Wheels
403 Glass Electric Sunroof
428 Warning Triangle
431 Auto-dimming Rear Vision Mirror
438 Woodgrain Trim
459 Electric Seat Adjustment with memory (Drivers & Passenger)
502 Headlight Washer System
508 PDC (Park Distance Control)
521 Rain Sensing Wipers
534 Automatic Air Conditioning
602 On-Board Monitor MK2 Navigation Style (Without BMW Navigation Computer)
640 Car Telephone Preparation
676 Hi-Fi Loud Speaker (Not HK audio)
810 Australia Version (Essentially means it's RHD with KM's not MPH from factory)
823 Hot Climate Version
825 Radio Control Oceania
861 Change of Coding (??)
876 Radio Frequency 315Mhz
880 English Documentation
925 Shipping Preparation + Protection for Transport
926 Full Size Spare matching Factory Wheels (BMW Style 44)

441 Smokers Package (standard on all Australian delivered E46's)
672 6 Disc CD Changer (Standard on all Australian delivered 325i or higher E46's)
522 Xenon Lights (standard on all Australian delivered 328ci or higher models E46's)

I'm a firm believer in preventive maintenance, so I'll be replacing the fuel pump in the coming weeks and then having the automatic transmission fluid changed at a shop soon. DIY regular oil changes as per the Haynes book I picked up

Did a Repco haul today, time for my first DIY!! oil change & fuel pump replacement.

The oil was nice and black when it came out. The PO said it had been sitting for around 2 months, driven around the block once a week only to keep the battery charged. So it was probably pretty sludgy. I'm heading on a 600km+ round trip in just over a week with my girlfriend, so I wanted the oil & fuel pump changed. It's going into the shop this coming week to have the automatic transmission fluid and filter changed, as well as a general inspection.

Up on it's ramp!

This was the first time I'd been under the car, so I was glad to see no rust or worn bushings

On another note, saw this nice 330ci convertible today. Can anyone I.D these rims for me?

Those are Alpina wheels.

But nice car overall. Fern/Oxford Green is nice especially with the tan interior.

Safe to say this is one of the better purchases I'm made in my life.

Heading down to Busselton this weekend, around 220km outside of Perth and 2.5hrs. It was 40c degrees that day, so I was worried about the cooling system working over time. Luckily the previous owner had the expansion tank replaced and a full cooling system pressure test done in July 2016.

The Fern Green really pops in the sunlight, absolutely love it!!

Changed the fuel pump today (again). I originally did this for preventative maintenance, but thought why should I pay an extra $60 for an OEM Siemens VDO one when an aftermarket one should be fine?

After I replaced it, all was good. But the fuel gauge didn't work. Upon closer inspection through these very forums, I found it being a common problem when you replace the pump with an aftermarket one. So, I bought a Siemens VDO OEM pump from FCP Euro.

IMG_6950

In the end, it cost me an extra $80 because I have a two week old aftermarket fuel pump at home doing nothing. I guess it's always good to have a spare, right? or donate to a fellow member in need

I also replaced my rear boot struts as they were squeaking and heavy, and it was annoying me

Next on the list you may ask? New power steering pump reservoir seal, spark plug replacement, windscreen cowl and E46 cooling system overhaul + water pump (minus new radiator) courtesy of FCP Euro's excellent range

Excellent selection of vehicle. As you've seen, I have a Fern Green 323Ci. It's a great (and fairly rare) colour. There are a few Fern Green four-doors around Perth, but even fewer coupes.

The work you've had done, especially the cooling system will pay off in the long run.

Thanks for the kind words! Upon closer inspection of the service history, the thermostat was replaced at the same time as the expansion tank in September 2016.

Chrome will be staying without question. I am not a fan of shadowline trim unless the car's colour is black.

For boot struts, I followed this video:

An bought these struts:

https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...s-51248254281s FYI place 2 in the quantity as they don't get shipped as a pair.

In the coming days I will be ordering the E46 Fanatics group buy Eonon GA7150 head unit with reversing camera

I'm keen to hear how you go with the Eonon head unit, in particular whether you are getting an installer do put it in or doing it yourself.

Agree with on the chrome, too. Black strips are significantly cheaper to replace but the chrome just looks much better.

I'll be doing it myself, with the help of friends

But I know need to get the extended wiring harness. Whilst I don't have a Navigation computer, all the radio kit is in the boot and the Eonon needs it in the front. It's the same as a desktop set-up; the computing power (radio kit) is in the boot, and the screen and buttons in the dash act as just a monitor.

I'll be following this link: https://lemalife.wordpress.com/2010/...em-navigation/

I spotted a Fern Green 320ci while out and about today, so that makes three coupes we know of in Perth!

Had a public holiday today for our fallen veterans (ANZAC Day) so decided to take some time to wash, clay bar and polish the car.

This was after doing just one panel...

IMG_7172******** async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8">*********>

I doubt it's ever seen a clay bar before, but afterwards it was all worth it

IMG_7178******** async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8">*********>

This is with just an iPhone 6S photo, it looks even better in person or if I had a DSLR. I also went around and coated all the plastic and rubber exterior trim with 303 Aerospace Protectant to keep all the trim looking new
