Tires arrived.

245/40r17 Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 which is pretty much a Potenza RE003.

Thanks. I'll throw out a review when they are mounted and I have some miles on them.

Dropped off the wheels and tires this morning before work to be mounted and balanced. Folded down the seats, 4 tires in the back, 2 wheels in the truck, 2 up front in the passenger seat.

Suspension install, fender roll/pull will likely happen on Saturday.

Not a fan of the painted moldings though
^+1 on all this. An MTech1 E46 is super sexy in AW, and especially so if the rear bumper "diffuser" portion is black and contrasts with the white.

Looks clean though, and always nice to see an NC car! I lived just down the road in Winston-Salem for years.

Keep it up! Can't wait to see the new wheels on.

I agree and I have yet to see another in person especially in this color combo. I do plan on painting or wrapping the rear 'diffuser' in the future as it's currently painted body color which I don't mind too much to be honest.

Thank you! I can't either as I'm getting anxious to be done and see how it performs and looks.

This has probably already been asked, but any plans for a 5- or 6-speed swap in the works?

It's in my mind. I do plan on keeping the car for awhile so it makes sense financially. If I come across a ZHP 6 Speed and M3 Subframe for a good price...I'll make sure I pick one up. Or....locate a donor car for some swapage.

You might not need to pull and roll. I have the same H&R kit and 17x8.5 with 245/40s with plenty of space. I guess you will find out today!

From the measurements I've done and according to the data, specs, tire size and sidewall it will be really close.

Picked them up from the tire shop.

teaser

Center caps will be BMW

Tires mounted. The wheels didn't take no more than .75 of weight. Tech said the wheels and tires balanced out great!

You can tell from the pictures that there is just barley a little bit of stretch of the 245 on 9" rim.

Yes...the garage is a disaster. One of the many other projects I have.

I'll leave this here.

Plenty of room. No rubbing. It's close....But under full compression there is room.

So you got those to fit without any fender modifications? Why does 17x9 ET30 w/ 245/40/17 fit but 18x9 ET30 with 245/35/18 not fit? I know lots of people on these forums tried fitting 18x9 ET30 and had issues

I didn't compare diameter size difference between 17" to 18" but that could be a factor.

In the rear there is enough clearance between the tire and the bumper clip. I didn't use the spring pads in the rear either.

In the front there is ample room. Only under full compression and moderate turning angle it might rub but there is still 4-5mm room left.

My driveway is steep and pulling in and out at different approach angles there was room.

I haven't jumped on the mountain back roads yet but normal driving it's good.

Thank you. So glad I stuck with my gut and get my dream wheels.

Did a around town and highway test and no rubbing. Went over a large dip and no rubbing. It's raining a lot here and the tires are great in the wet.
