Just finished up pretty much my entire maintenance checklist: oil change, spark plugs, air, fuel, and cabin air filters, and the valve cover gasket. Cleaned my MAF and ICV for the hell of it and found a crack in my lower intake boot (and replaced the boot) while I was at it. I also had a look at my DISA unit since I know some people here say it's a common fail point, but the valve seemed properly "springy" to me so I just tossed some sealant around the orange gasket/ring and called it a day. My car has around 67k miles on it and feels absolutely fantastic after finishing all this up. I'm shocked at how smooth and steady my idle is, most likely due to fixing the vacuum leak or possibly thanks to replacing the spark plugs that were pretty fouled up with oil from the leaky valve cover gasket.
While I was doing all this I also did the VANOS seal replacement. I was actually surprised at how easy it was and the whole job went off without a hitch or the car throwing any codes at me after it was done. No idea if it's really making any difference, but it was a relatively cheap and easy bit of maintenance and the old o-rings were pretty clearly in bad shape.
Brakes and front control arms/bushings are up after the winter.
