Anyone ever run into this? It seems that the #11 bolt was broken off the bell housing by the previous owner or just wear and tear, and I cannot remove the transmission from the motor. Any ideas? Its one of the bolts that have to be removed from the top, or with a really long extension. I can seperate the tranny from the engine about 2 inches everywhere except at this point. I dont believe that there are threads on the bell housing.
Oah sh!$ that is one hell of a place to have a bolt broken off! :thumbdwn: short of taking the whole front end off and pulling the whole engine out with tranny attached I don't know... in for pics when and how you get this out!
Thanks! One bolt was laready missing, and the bolt that was broken itsnt threaded all the wa, it was just rusted. I had to jack up the engine, and use a big ass pry bar on it with a dead blow hammer. But alas, now i have a problem, my starter is grinding, and car is hard starting. IM sure i put it back together properly...FML
Well, that was a crappy situation and the new one isn't too great either. Sounds like the starter isn't catching the flywheel teeth completely.
Let's see if we can figure this out, though. Did you change the flywheel or starter or are they the same ones that were on the motor before you pulled the trans? This is obvious, I'm sure, but did you replace the broken/rusted bolts?
Is the trans seated completely flat against the motor with the dowel in place?
