I bought an aerosol can of this stuff, and it cleans very well; dries without streaks. It doesn't leave any oily, hazy residue like regular Rain-x. Has anyone else tried it? I can't speak to its water-repellant qualities yet as we're still waiting for a good storm.
I'm a little obsessive about keeping the windshield/windows clean, as my morning commute is into the sun and any smudge looks terrible!
Thanks for the post. I'll have to look into this. This time of year, with freezing rain, it really helps to have something that sheds water from the windshield without wipers.
It just so happens we had a cloudburst or two on my commute home, and it certainly doesn't work as well as full-strength Rain-X (I could've guessed that!). But it makes the next cleaning is easier, seems to have good solvents and it doesn't streak, so I'm happy with it.
I'm sure in snow country you want an industrial-strength blend to help with slush and stuff.
RainX is silicon based product. You could try to remove it with isopropyl alcohol. If you have clay bar that would help too. Last resort would be paint thinner but be really careful not to spill onto paint. Hope this help.
Anyhow, I don't have problem with RainX. Maybe the streaks or film are there before you apply RainX.
