Aerial and steering wheel adaptor with aftermarket head unit

Hi all

starting with this is my first BMW and i am now officially converted, Found a 2000 model with 80,000km which i figured was a bargain for the age. Owned by 2 retired people in it's life and taken care of.

So now that it is in the hands of a younger rev head, i bought a Alpine head unit(exact model pending, can't remember) a set of alpine speakers and took my old Sony sub for the boot. Got everything sorted by the end of the day and down the track i installed a 1000w Cap because the lights were dimming when playing certain music.

So my question is that the only thing left to be done is connecting the aerial to the after market head unit which apparently needs to be replaced according to some other posts which i would like to confirm if needed or an adapter can be used.

Then i have also got steering wheel controls missing which i found an adapter on ebay but just have not taken the step to get it as yet.

The steering wheel adapter should be fine it is just the aerial that i would need some advice on connecting to the head unit.

any advice would be much appreciated.
