I do plan on getting this kit this week. http://www.germanautosolutions.com/product.php has anyone have experience with this kit or company? Also checked the coolant level today and the float was almost not floating. No leaks whatsoever and no milky oil. Wtf? Don't know what it was last week when I bought it (I know stupid thing to forget) Oh yeah, my float post isn't red it's white, normal? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Anyone correct me if I'm wrong but if your production date is after I believe 03/02 BMW addressed the rear subframe issue. It's more of a problem on 02' and older e46's. I also believe the problem was more prevalent on 328's and 323's. I've have a 04 330ci that's creeping up on 170k that's has always been driven like it's stolen and never had subframe issues.

As far as the vanos I don't think it would be a problem at 28k but it is a 14 year old car. I would suggest pulling the vanos, if the positions are snug in their housings and snug (don't wobble) on the camshaft you should be fine.

My factory fuel pump went out at 160k but your car has obviously done some sitting, if fuel stabilizer was used I wouldn't think you would have a problem but it's any easy enough fix if you want to be cautious.

Beautiful car by the way....

P.S. Same with the DISA, pull it off make sure the pin holding the flap is snug and the flap operates properly and it holds a vacuum. The O Ring is probably flat, you can get one for 5 or 6 bucks and it takes a few minutes to replace. Might as well if you have it off...

Thanks for the input, I'll be addressing the fuel pump in the near future. I did get the disa kit and coolant cap from g.a.s hopefully will extend the life of the expansion tank. From decoding my vin production date was 12/2002 so should dodge a bullet there with the subframe. Also I'll be doing a coolant flush soon as well. As far as maintenance history that I know of, 4 oil changes, and 2 brake fluid flushes.

A concern I have is when I shut off the engine there is like a clunk. All the research I've seen this problem happen is with a m/t, but I have a automatic. Any thoughts?

Coolant flush is a good idea, 4 oil changes is normal for the miles on it, if the oil and filter look good you should be fine to the next scheduled one, I've actually never had cooling system problems with mine, I've just done flushes, but I am getting ready to do the whole system just as a PM. I'd say check the power steering fluid level and color. Trans fluid and diff fluid should be fine. BMW says these are lifetime fluids which is BS but that's an argument for another time. Wouldn't worry about those till you get around 80 -100k unless your having problems.

Check your vacuum lines out and make sure they aren't brittle or cracked. Also noticed you have K&N intake, that kit replaced the upper intake boot with solid plastic but uses the stock lower intake book, may want to check its condition as well, when you get a tear in that you'll undoubtedly have a nasty vacuum leak and run lean. Be careful not to tear it up when your checking it either...

It sounds like a lot and overwhelming but these are all just minor things over the life of the car, get out there and drive and enjoy. There aren't very many E46's left with miles that low. Great buy.
