sitting and waiting. i set my e46 build off to the side to build another 450HP audi, to turn around and sell, and i'll be buying a tow rig for the BMW. but i have my hands on my 1j and r154 now, need to find a diff (prefer open and like a 3.9x-4.XX) cause my 3.15 with the r154 ratios, second gear goes to like 97mph..... useless.
waiting on my cage to get here this weekend, my ASD handbrake, and a few other things. my wheels 18x9 racing dynamic rgrs are sitting at my local wheel shop. and i have a set of adaptors that let me run my audi wheels on BMW's, so i think i'll keep my Fikses from my A6 when i sell that.
slowly but surely. I just cant wait to start watching again. i miss just spectating, even though drifting wont be an option for me this year, or atleast any time soon.
good to hear. i had access to my neighbors 6speed g8 gxp today. go to slide that around a lot and get back used to some higher speed clutch kick entries (i have access to large private parking lots)
I will say, i LOVE the feel of v8s, especially the LS3, and especially the T56. kindof makes me wish i went a different route with motor and trans choice but i was literally given my 1j/r154 and basically paid to take it.
im hoping to get the car caged this week, get my seats and rails in, get the rest of my sound deadening out and what not.
i'll make a build thread soon. i just added you on fb so you'll probably be able to see more of my builds of both cars, and my hunt for a tow rig and what i want to use. i still am pondering an x5 4.6 or just going with my original plan of a bagged chevy/gmc 2500/3500 duramax.
how much of a pain is it to swap the rear diff on these guys? I thought of maybe picking up a spare set of wheels and another diff and weld that guy up/swap it in on occasion. Summer is coming so I could leave it but I like going on mountain cruises and welded isn't to great for that.
I would go LSD if I could afford it lol.
Also, whats the stock steering angle on these guys?
Regardless I'm seriously thinking of picking up a Turbo II in May/June and sliding that around.
hey acpstunts, do you know if anyone from Flipzco parked some pickup truck all up next my pit spot at Opening Moves? The Flipzco crew were next to me and my brother. I wouldn't have minded if they just asked if they could park there to load some tires or something, it didn't seem like that but I came off track and it was just parked halfway in my spot. I thought that was pretty disrespectful.
Hey rich , yea thats my dude Justin. I know Chris Allen with the Flipzco 240sx was pitted next to you. Im sure he didnt mean any disrespect, I would have just brought it up and he'd move it right away.
I was in a bad mood, not happy with how my car felt, etc and I got a little pissed when I came back from being out on track and saw it parked there. No biggie, I was just wondering....
Good job today in FD Long Beach, Michael Essa and the 4th place finisher Chelsea Denofa. More people are definitely going to be looking at e46 chassis as a capable drift car.
Atleast you got out there ugh mines still down, really pushing for april 27ths event.. Are you gonna slim down the rear tire widths?
And yea man FD was crazy, both Essa and Denofa did awsome! The e46 chassis is an amazing platform and with the angle kits out for our chassis now it makes it that much sweeter Driving or not Ill see you the 27th Rich!
And a side note Sean from SLR speed just sent me the revised / newly released Ackerman Shim Kit for my super angle setup. Chelsea just put them to good use this weekend so definitely stoked too get everything together finally and get out there again! Will post pics once I receive them this week.
I didn't change the rear tires however I did go back to using a Nitto NT05 up front. The Michelin Pilot Super Sport was nowhere near as grippy, giving me all sorts of steering issues, balance was all off and tons of understeer. The Pilot Super Sports seem like good street tires but they don't belong on a track.
Nice, yea same bs was happening when I was running some shitty nexan tires. Gonna be running Federal 595s this season, and so far (the little time used) I love them! And they are priced awsome.
Havent been in here since i sold my zhp last summer (right after i put an m3 lsd in it of course), and im ready to sell my 1992 urS4 to get another e46 to start getting sideways again.
finally commiting to sliding the e46 full time. gonna try and aim for ecb but its not looking to crazy. this thread is exactly what ive been waiting for and glad to see you guys killin it in bmws! gets me so pumped! keep it up hope to see ya out there
Just ran my first drift event at Freedom Moves after quickly putting together a welded 3.46 and throwing the setup in.
Swapping the diff was a hell of alot easier than I originally assumed it would be.
Im gonna just keep checking my subframe mounts until i see cracking then ill drop it all and weld in reinforcement. Otherwise our cars with a welded diff is amazingggg.
