Coolant loss and overheating issue

I topped off the coolant in my 2005 325xi and the very next day I had coolant loss and overheating issues. The coolant was only a little low (maybe less than 1/2 liter) and I have never had overheating issues. I do not have any engine codes. I stopped driving before the engine got too hot...luckily I was close to home. Any suggestions?

Make sure you bleed the system correctly.

It sounds like more than just 'low coolant' to me. It sounds like you have a leak which you need to attend to.

See Mango's cooling sticky...get to work, buddy...coz if you don't, you'll be working a lot to pay for massive repair...sounds like you know.

Did you put the cap back on after you topped off the coolant?

I didn't bleed the system the first time (didn't know I had to). I looked it up on Youtube and found a simple video that showed how. Thankfully that fixed the problem. And yes, I had replaced the cap, although that is a fair question.

Re: Coolant loss and overheating issue

I'm having the same issue with my 2000 528i, after replacing the water pump/pulley, and over flow coolant tank. I'm thinking now it may be a thermostat replacement.
Please help, thanks
Any suggestions?
