Should I Buy?

I found a 2004 bmw m3 smg with 100k miles on craigslist. is that high mileage and will it break down soon/easy? according to carfax everything looks good.... i dont want it to be towed or break down anytime soon. He is asking $14k, should i buy it? I know people say smg's are bad but I want an smg so dont judge haha

Ask to move this to the M3 sub forum because you'll get better info there.

Have a PPI done. CarFax is near useless when it comes the nitty gritty of maintenance, or lack thereof.

Run away from SMG! They all fail and they are expensive to fix. Buy a 6-speed.

SMG is fine. The most common thing to go out is the pump motor, which you can get refurbed for about $250. Get a PPI done. Read the stickies on m3forum.net. Expect to pay a couple grand at least in preventative maintenance after you buy it.

Shut up.

****ing misinformed. 113k and no SMG issues, no salmon relay, no shutters that are abnormal and no leaks. *wood knocking*

Anyways, get the PPI done. I wish I bought a higher mileage e46 m3 for like 10 or 11k, then just ****ing get the subframe done/fluids/bushings for under 3k and only be in for 14k instead of ****ing paying 21k in 2012 and then doing all that fuking ****.

k done.
