Bmw 325ci differential help

Hello everyone,
The Differential in my 2002 325ci manual 5 speed is on its way out. I am having trouble finding out the ratio that I have.

Will a diff from an automatic 325ci work or will the ratios be too short. Any help would be appreciated

Stock ratio is 3.23 . Automatic is 3.38. Its a small difference. However a shorter ratio will make the car a lot more fun

Here is a calculator that will help you determine the RPM difference.

Here is another link to the same site that shows the diffs used in the various US BMWs- not sure if AUS is different- it shows the 325Ci manual as a 3.15 ratio

The ratio should be stamped or printed on top of the diff, but you probably can't see it while it is installed. My 2001 325i auto has a 3.46 ratio. Going from a lower number to a higher number will improve your acceleration and decrease your top speed.
