e46 Windshield Replacement - Gasket Looks Fishy

Hello,

I have an '02 325 vert and just got the windshield replaced because of a stone cracking it. Insurance covered 100%, and Safelite did the repair a couple of weeks ago. I have however noticed that the gasket, particularly near the top of the sides and top corners look questionable. Its not that it was installed wrong, just that the gasket looks too small, and does not cover all the way upon the metal windshield frame. I was wondering if someone can post photos of their e46 (vert or not) that has not had the windshield replaced for a comparison with the factory install? Thanks. (don't mind the spotting along the top of the windshield frame - its only tap that I haven't removed yet from the install) Also, note the top of the windshield gasket does not completely sit up on the metal windshield frame.

Thanks for the photos

Thanks for the photos, they do look the same. I was just starting to worry about the gap around the top corners, but your looks identical.

Great having a forum to check things out. And thanks again for your speedy reply with photos.

... no off to slay other dragons....

FYI, Safelite windshields are junk.

The gap width is the design of the car but I agree with goodmanr that Safelite windshields are crap also I would have specified BMW OEM original glass windshield. They are better thicker etc and you wouldn't have the gaps etc around the windshield area etc.
