Hey Jørnen-a, curious to know if you guys kept a log of what your LSA's (lobe separation angle) were when tuning?

to the OP, do you have pictures of the exhaust manifold? is the motor less slanted then normal? curious to know how you routed the oil drain. Do you have a heat issue (from turbo/downpipe)

The S54 in the E30 is tilted up more than stock yes.

AN 10 hose is normal to use on turbo drain. Some even drill and tap the drain straight into the timing chain cover, especially on M50s.

Exhaust manifold:

Turbo drain into E34 M50 pan.

Yes, that has to be the next step. PPF have already delivered their first setup to a customer in Iceland if I'm not mistaking. I think it's the same guys who had the E39 M5 TwinTurbo and E30 M3 "RingToy" S50B32 euro at the Nurburgring.

Vidar Strand at VS Motor (the guy with the 9 second 1000hp E34 M5 youtube screamer and E36 M3 S38 1422hp drag race car) buildt a sleeved destroked 4.8L S85 back in 2010 ish. And dynoed 1851hp and uses it for dragracing. Google it and you'll find the video.

The setup from PPF:

Oil feed size is AN4 usually. Note that ball bearing usually has a little different flanges sometimes becuase they require less oil volume. I see COMP turbos have 1/4" NTP on 360 bearings and 1/8" on ball bearings inner size.

Oh dear... another dyno session at PPF after fitting bigger injectors +55 WHP at same boost (2.2 bar).

Ended up popping a shim and bending a valve. According to PPF the turbo could do 1150WHP.

S54 pop shims after certain power figures been there by 2009.

A custom made valve train is the key.

You dont need a full custom valvatrain. Supertech valvesprings is the only thing you need. In my first s54 turbo engine i used standard springs. It poped shims sometimes. But only wen it backfired It pop shims if you run the revlimiter whit only ignition cut and it goes bang. It phushes the valve down due to the high presure you get when it backfire. And then the shim pops out. This also hapens when if there somtingh wrong and it backfire. The e30 in the tread have som trigger problems and backfire because of that. I run 1111 whp and never poped a shim. M3micke runs 1260whp and has never poped a shim. No backfire=no shim poping.

Bluethunder's E30 S85 will be NA and probably coupled to DCT.

No backfire, yes shim popping.
Hitting rev limiter
A boost cut based ignition cut
A traction control based ignition cut

these all trigger shim popping...

Dont make a fool of yourself like Always, and dont try to be smarter then these guys because you never will be that smart.

They always show a dyno and not like you with a 1200Whp banner without proof.

Time for a update. Last year 1115whp @ 2 bar boost with Borg Warner 8082 turbo. This year swapped down to a Precision gen 2 6870 turbo. 12mm downsizing compressor. That came to 949whp @ 1.8 bar.

Makes it easier doing this Sounds like a machinegun sometimes without muffler
