2004 330i ZHP No crank No Start, Auto Transmission Problems

Hey everyone!

New to forum and this is my first post. I am in need of some serious help.

I read through pretty much every thread i could find and can't seem to find my issue.

I have a 2004 330i ZHP Automatic with about 118,000. I was driving home from work the other day and all of a sudden when the car went to downshift, i heard and felt a "bang" and the gear with a explication point came up on the dash. I quickly googled the symbol and read a post that I should shut the car off, (stupidly in drive ) then put it in park, wait a little, and turn it back on and all should be good. But unfortunately, the car would not restart. No Crank, No Start. I tried to start the car in neutral, no luck. Had to tow it to the shop.

Fast forward. The mechanic told me it was the Transmission Range sensor Located inside the transmission preventing the car from not starting. (The car thinks it is in drive?) Cross referenced this with 3 other shops, and all confirm that this sensor would prevent the car from not starting. At the same time, since the car has 118k, we went ahead and serviced the transmission. The car started again! Hurray! They then took it for a test drive, went on the freeway and it was running fine, then on a downshift, BANG (they said it sounded like it jumped from 3rd gear to 1st gear like you would in a manual)

They brought it back to the shop, and when they shut the car off and tried to start it again, no luck. No Crank No Start. $800 later my car is right were it was. They hooked it up to the computer and pull the codes 91 and 3C? Not sure what these could be.

Does anyone know what could be causing the car not to start? I have no problems with car before. No metal flakes in transmission fluid, no other noises from tranny. Car was running smooth. Could this be a computer issue? Possible the TCM or Transmission wiring harness? Checked fuses. Am I missing something? Would appreciate any advice or direction anyone could share!
