Help with driveshaft!

I have an 02 325xi with 160,000 miles. I have knocking/thumping coming from the rear while accelerating, always occurring at 2500RPM. Took it into the shop, was told it is the rear U-joint failing. They quoted me ~1100$ out the door to replace the entire driveshaft. I haven't been able to find too much on the internet about older E46 driveshafts, and the route I should be taking to fix it. I called a local driveshaft specialist and they said they could replace the rear driveshaft for ~500$ out the door. This is obviously a lot more appealing to me because of the price, but I would like some input from folks who have more experience than me. Should I consider buying a refurbished driveshaft for ~300$ and attempt to do it myself? Should I go with the driveshaft specialist or dish out the $1100 at my go to BMW shop where I know it will be done correctly?

I also found this driveshaft for super cheap, but figured its quality is less. Can anybody recommend where to get a decent driveshaft?

Appreciate the help,
Dustin
