That's a lot of posts complaining about the Dice. If you were to believe the sponsors though, there are thousands of happy customers, only the unhappy ones post. Ha.. So laughable.

If you want a good laugh, read this, or check out this month's Boston Bimmer magazine on page 20: http://www.bigpatsfans.com/BostonBimmer.pdf ...

Thanks for the links. The next time I'm having trouble falling asleep I'll start reading one. I guess I'm a lucky for getting one that works.

Yeah the Dice has been pretty pathetic so far. Don't know how it's going to get resolved. Kinda lame how I get forced to deal with Dice at every chance, just to get new disposable dice modules. W/e, maybe I was able to shed some truth on how the Dice unit really works

ahh, its just a matter of time before it fails... Here's my favorite thread... One in which 3 sponsors gang up on me and say that I have a "vendetta" against Dice. Haaa. Me and hundreds of other people apparently:
http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=694122

BTW, the best part of this thread is how it finishes, with the customer having to swap out 2 trunk units for a radio unit.

Wow sna77, kinda the same position here. I would feel the exact same way you did if I got pushed around/denounced. I'll call Dice tomorrow, we'll see how it goes. Probably the same old stuff, I can hear it now:

me: hello my dice unit is messing with my K-Bus

Dice: You ride a short bus? What? can I put you on hold?

me: Yea sure....

Dice: Yeah my manager said we can ship one out to you.

me: I don't want a new one

Dice: kthxbai

wow i was about to jump on the dice until i read this... =\
The two I bought were for the radio interface. I do have a trunk interface for another car but it is not a silverline. It sucks as well. IMHO DICE is not ready for prime time.

I say don't waste your money just buy an audio plug and plug it into your radio. It is far more reliable.

I've never had to reset mine and I've never used my iPhone on it BUT.

If you are going to use an iPod classic on it I would definitely suggest mounting the ipod somewhere accessible. The way the Classic "sleeps" when left alone overnight just doesn't interface well with the Dice AT ALL. I have mine under the radio in the sunglass compartment so I can just reach in and push play in order to wake it and then it works.

The word "there" can appear as a pronoun, as in “over there."

"Their" is a possessive pronoun. In a phrase like “Susan and Bill's car,” it could be used to to make a new phrase: “their car.”

”They're” is a contraction of “they are.” “They are” should always be able to replace “they're.”

Extra Credit: It's "I'm looking for an M3"
not "I'm looking for a M3".

This is more than likely the issue that I have with my Touch. But you can't just simply press play because the screen is locked and displays "Accessory Attached". Therefore, the controls are unavailable, unless you hold down the menu button. If you hold down the menu button, you get full control over the iPod but lose control through the radio unless you unplug and reattached it. This is a good feature with the Touch and the iPone as you don't have to do any switching on the DICE module itself to have control using the iPod/iPhone. Comes in handy if you have a passenger that wants to browse through your library.

It seems that most of the problems people are having are with static and background noise at low volumes, and the occasional freeze. This is exactly why I chose the radio interface. Why add an additional 20+ feet of cable when you can hook it directly to the back of the radio? Why anyone buys the truck interface in lieu of the radio interface beats me.

What's the deal with having to disconnect the battery?

ummm, first off, you have to have a pos radio to have the tape player. Second, you have a hideous wire running into the tape player... so yeah no, tape adapter is the absolute worst option.

yeah high level input will sound like $hit. The easiest, cheapest thing to do for the highest quality sound is to use a low-level ipod dock connector to an OEM Aux input cable:

the problem is... that you're american...... hehe - No i'm not being anti american at all!

I use the Dension Gateway 300 with my business cd player... and its perfect... absoultely no complaints about the unit at all.... The customer service seriously sucks ass tho, but i doubt dice are any better in that regard.

whenever dension gets mentioned on this forum, the sponsors usually chime in with "oh we tested them and they caused us lots of problems" (i'll give it 2 or 3 posts till it happens hehe) but i think its because dension isnt sold in the USA. (although i'm sure you can get them some how) I believe Dice and Dension were the same group originally, but then they split for whatever reason.

with my gateway 300, i have ipod control, and i can choose to do it on the ipod or through the stereo, which works really well. no complaints, its never crashed once. i can do an ABC search on artists, which is really quick, and through the steering wheel controls.

I can also pop in a USB pen and play files from that in a very similar fashion, or i can plug in an aux lead should i feel the urge.

they also do a version without usb.

if they release a new version of the firmware, i can update it myself via usb.

i have the unit tucked behind the dash, the ipod in the little compartment on the right (uk car remember) and i have a usb and aux socket in the centre console box with the slidy lid.

Its really cool

The DICE is always pushed as the best product, but the evidence suggests otherwise.

for sat nav systems, the intravee is far superior, but for a business cd player, like i have, the intravee is a bit buggy too so ive heard, and i wasnt impressed when i saw the video of it on youtube.

I investigated all the options before i bought mine, and i'm really glad i went with the dension gateway. Although i'm in the UK so i had the choice (can get the dice and the intravee here too)

i couldnt be happier with it.

Yeah I dunno, I'm about to call DICE right now. And I don't know what tom means by "I've already informed them of the issue and they are expecting your call." Does this mean that everyone knows of my situation? Don't know how that's supposed to work

1st EDIT of many to come:

Called the technical support line, guy had no idea what I was talking about or who I was. Said he would look into it and call me back, waiting for the call... will update

Not all of us here are missing the boat I too use the Dension Gateway 300, and it is fantastic. Far superior and much more stable than the DICE units. No silly DIP switches to mess with. Rock solid. Fantastic feature set. Costs a bit more than the DICE, but worth every darn cent. It just works.

It's actually really unfortunate that Dension left the US market. People here in the US are so missing out on the best iPod connection kit for the E46 + Business CD radio.

P.S. I couldn't imagine what I would do without the ABC-Search feature!

UPDATE 2:

Dice tech Adam called me back regarding the unit. Said he's never heard of the problem, funny how the most unexplainable problems happen to me. Said he would send a new DICE module and both the radio and trunk interface harnesses. Now it's just a waiting game. W/e

You relieze I-bus and K-bus a pretty much the same thing depending on what car you are talking about???

BTW the E46 does NOT have an I-bus only a K-bus and yes the Dice goes into the K-bus.

I had a Dice last week we tried to install kill the K-bus on an E46 turns out the harness they supplied was defective. I repinned their harness and it was fixed.
