I know, that's why I didn't expect it from you. I know I personally haven't been contributing much since I've had to sink all my money into maintenance, but you understand the value of collaboration. I've offered some mechanical design help if anyone needs it, but no one's taken me up on it.

I'd love to start working towards cracking our ECUs, for example, but it doesn't seem like there's enough people interested in sharing openly. I mean, I'm not about to drop what I'm doing and start, but these cars could be SO much more fun for everyone involved if it was common knowledge how to make them faster. If people could tune E46s as easily as you can tune a Honda with Crome, imagine how many turbo options we'd have? You wouldn't have to spend the value of the car to install a turbo setup.

Edit: Please don't take this as hostile, I respect all you do for this community with sharing your experience. It just caught me off guard.

I can't understand the ZHP cams though. all this work and the only thing changed internally to help with the manifold, porting, and headers are a set of ZHP cams. Too weak for these very custom setups in my opinion.

I would port both the intake and exhaust ports, and polish the exhaust in the end.

Both of you will make considerable and noticeable gains. For a race car, the ZHP cam sucks. If there is still a hunt for more N/A power after this, cams are a must n

I know hoveringuy has ZHP cams, therefore I wouldn't touch anything else in the head unless he wants to put better cams in, at which point everything changes.

I'm stuck with ZHP cams, not allowed to put anything hotter in.

Seems like everybody ported intake ports on M54 to M50 intake manifold but nobody said what they did with small runners in head that will suck air outside without stock M54 intake.

I think about studs on Loctite and solder on top.

I used JB Water Weld to plug them.

Final tune with the Kromer Kraft header. 241hp at 6,000 RPM.

Awesome. Car sounds really good, too. Those revs seemed to drop very quickly.

Nothing sounds quite like an equal-length header sounds on these cars.

I just realized that, because I hadn't heard (or known I was hearing) an equal-length header non-M e46, and that one sounds beautiful. I may scratch the headers I have and save up a pile for some equal-length for proper scavenging (most importantly), and that pure sound it makes.

Haha hard bargain. What was the final peak loss on torque w/o DISA?

DISA ended up being a total loser on the whole. The torque bump was truly in the noise of the dyno. The power gains from the M50 are not, however, in the noise.
