Car Care

Ive been searching on the internet for a while about car care and cleaning products,

and time and time again, i keep seeing Meguiars products popping up

I just want to know are these products any good?

i was thinking of using their SwirlX or ScratchX to help eliminate some of my finer scratches/swirls

If u got any other products to recommend please feel free to mention them!!

thanks

-Peter

Mike at Car Care Products Sydney. He has the best of everything like Menzerna polishes etc from Germany.

I would recommend Menzerna polishes as well, I use their Super Intensive Polish, then another finer polish on top with a coat of Einsett (can't remember the name exactly) wax on top... all applied using a Porter Cable Buffer...

I just go down to BMW Donny and buy half their cabinet. I swear by their rim cleaner to get the black brake dust off.

As for polish i don't bother with it i really should but i clean the car so often and it straight away gets dirty again as it is.

I find that after I properly detail my car, I find myself washing it a lot more to maintain the paintwork since I spend so much time polishing it haha...

Although I guess Silver cars always appear to be clean...

i personally wouldnt use those scratchx and the alike products as all they do is fill the imperfections not remove them so after the first wash they are back

to really remove all swirls you need to use a machine as they generate a lot more torque which breaks down cutting compounds in polishes after polishing it is much easier to look after the car with regular microfiber washing techniques

as sprintman said the boys at Car Care Products are great but if you want somebody locally Damian at Final Inspection out in Cambellfield carries all the top quality stuff plus some of his own branded stuff (i think his shop is open on saturdays till about 5)

Hey mate, just thought I'd share my experience with you....when I bought my car a few months ago I became so obsessed with keeping it clean, it drove me nuts I have a Sapphire Black and it's a ***** to keep clean & not get any swirls....

Anyway, when I first posted pics of my car on here, everyone commented on how clean it was, so hopefully I'm doing something right. Here is a list of products I have:

2 x ordinary buckets (2-bucket wash system)

Dodo Juice Born to be Mild Shampoo (car wash)

Armor All Car Wash (used for the wheels / tyres / wheel arches & Mrs' car )

Meguiar's Lambswool Wash Mitt (for the paintwork)

Standard Sponge (for the alloys & Mrs' car )

2 x Meguiar's Super Glide Chamois (one for the paintwork, the other for the alloys)

Kitten Wheel Cleaner

Turtle Wax Exterior Cleaning Cloths ( I found that the green one is excellent for buffing the windows after using the window cleaner and leaves no streak, I use the blue to get into the nitty gritty bits of alloys etc)

Export Glass Cleaner

Armor All Glass Cloth (I have found if u wet this, wipe the window, than spray the glass cleaner on the wet cloth, than wipe window again, and then buff off with the green cloth mentioned above, u wont get any streaks)

Kitten Interior Cleaner (don't use this anymore, just use water and a cloth for the car inerior unless real dirty than - at which point I'd use BMW cockpit spray)

Turtle Wax Interior Cleaning Cloths x 2 (use for the car interior + leather cleaner / conditioner application

Armor All Cleaning Wipes (keep in boot just in case someone spills food or drink, but I'm too scared to use these cheap things on the interior, plus I dont let anyone eat or drink in car anyway)

Magic Trees (used once smelt awaful, will now try Autoglym Autofresh)

Valvoline Tyre Shine

303 Aerospace Protectant (this is the best stuff for your dash / other vynal)

303 Wiper Treatment (havn't tried yet)

Lexol Leather Cleaner Spray (can't tell if this really worked or not, coz the seats were super clean)

Lexol Leather Conditioner Spray (smells good)

Swissvax Leather Brush (got alot of grime out of the steering wheel)

Vikan Wheel and Arch Brush

Vikan Wheel Rim Brush

Meguiar's Terry Towels (used to wipe off the leather cleaner / conditioner)

2 x Kenco Detailing Cloths (1 used for the 303 Protectant, the other kept in boot with Meguiar's Quick Detailer + Polishing Cloth to remove bird dropping - I have found that even if u leave those little yellow mini bird droppings for like a week they will come off but will oxidise and leave a tiny bump in your paint)

Meguiar's Waterless System (Duster, Spray & Cloths) (I use these after I wash the car to keep it looking good till the next wash, but hardly use it kinda scared will scratch)

Dodo Juice Lime Prime Lite

Meguiar's Foam Applicator Pads (to apply the Lime Prime, kinda didn't like the scratch like noise it made sometimes when I applied the Lime Prime before wax, so Ill stick to the Dodo Juice Supernatural Finger Mitt as well now for the Lime Prime Lite application)

Dodo Juice Purple Haze Wax

Dodo Juice Supernatural Finger Mitt (really good)

Meguiar's Supreme Shine Microfibre Cloth (to buff off the wax)

Meguiar's Polishing Cloth to buff off the lime prime lite.

This was the first time ever I waxed a car, and to be honest I didn't like the extra swirls / scratches I found on the car, but I have to live with it being black, u can only notice if u really inspect but I only notice, no-one else seems to know. Will get a polish soon anyway.

Here is some before and after wax pics, but they don't do justice coz the lighting on the after pics isnt the same as the before, hence the car's paint looks a different color!

Anyway I always give at least 1 week in between washes, I vacuum weekly, fortnightly I will use the cloth / water method on the interior.

hehe same sometimes if theres a bit of dust on it ill go at lunchtime at work down to the carwash and give it a quick high pressure spray. The car comes back wet and people laugh at me lol

Have just spent all morning out in the heat with the BMW leather foam trying to scrub this blasted white/beige interior as all of the dust from the road coats the inside of the car as well when you got a vert. Nightmare, its going to need a few go's i think but its far too hot.

I really need to find a boyfriend who details cars for a living i think!!

There are various steps involved in getting your car to look tip top...

I get excellent results with Megauiar's products.

After washing your car, run the back of your hand over the panels, if it feels like glass, then the paint surface is clean and free of contaminents. If it feels rough then you got deep dirt embeded in your paint work .

You can use Meguiars Deep crystal paint cleaner or Clay bar to clean the surface of your car .

If you have light swirls or scratch marks, use the Swirl x . Then finish with a coat of Meguiars NXT wax with a microfiber cloth .

Im planning to wash/polish/wax my car tomorrow . If you follow the steps, you will get good results regardless of the product you use in my opinion.

I would not leave the car out in the sun when its wet, the beeds of water act like magnifying glass and burn little round dots into the wax or clear coat...

There are better leather cleaners around then BMW, Zaino or even Autoglym and Lexol is very good as well.

Are you willing to pay the price though???

Car Care Products has detailing kits with RO polishers included. A good way to start.
