Sorry if i posted this in the wrong forum before...
Looking at a car tomorow morning and i would like to see as to what some of you guys would value a:
2005 Jet black on black ZCP
6 spd manual
Every option.
20k miles
Excellent condition inside and out.
Hes looking for around 32 and seems pretty firm.
I havent seen any competition packages with this low of miles for anywhere near this price.
Am i just blind or does he seem pretty fair in price.
What would you value that car if everything checked out and was in excellent condition. The car is stock other then a few things like smoked corners and black grill.
Not a fan of the e92, and even if you can thats really irrelevant. Im talking in the market of these cars is that price around right. Every other ZCP regardless of options with under 30k miles ive seen is going for mid 30's
Hmm, i guess my love for the e46 m3 is too much then haha. Im obviously gonna try to get him to come down a little, and i want a ZCP low miles, so this is my best option. Im also pretty young, cant afford a e90 even if i wanted it.
2nd owner, Full service history and the second owner owns two other cars, 1 DD and another weekend toy, so it was a garage queen for the second owner. Clean carfax.
KBB is quoting private party value on this car at $30,500 in excellent shape. That should give you a bit of negotiating room. You should also consider taking it to your local dealer or good european indy for a PPI before you finalize the deal. Also - the car is getting close to it's inspection 1 which can cost a few $$$'s.
I just did a nationwide autotrader search for all 2005 M3's, with a manual transmission, with under 30K miles.
1 car came up (for $31,500)
It was a convertible, not a ZCP, and had 28K miles. So the car you're looking at is worth more IMO. Coupes are more sought after, as are ZCP's.
This is how I figure a cars value. KBB, NADA, are merely suggested prices based on a standard depreciation calculations. They are not accurate. I usually do a nationwide autotrader search (which generally has multiple cars listed). At the bottom of the page it will tell you the average asking price of all cars in the search results. Then I figure you have $1-2K wiggle room (average) on the asking price.

Cross drilled rotors def a plus.
And 28-29! i Wish.
Find me one for that price alwaysbored, with the criteria of this car and i will personally hand you half of the money i saved haha.
ZCP package has rims at used price ($1,000), a rack ($400), and brakes ($800), nothing else worth paying for. I swapped all the relevant parts over to my std m3 and enjoy my cruise control. SAS nonsense is just that.
If it has all the service receipts and there is nothing about the car that you don't like (wrong color, interior, options), I say go for it. $31K for a car with this low miles is very fair. Don't let it get away.
31.5k is what KBB says for "excellent" for a car that's pretty much loaded and in CA. Considering that the market is soft for sports cars I don't think its really accurate. I'd say 29-30k is the tops I would personally pay. Also ZCP brakes are the same as regular M3 brakes, just different brackets. ZCP wheels are a personal choice, and the suspension is nothing to write home about and came standard on all M3s made in 2005 and after. The only real thing you can't retro is the streering rack that has tighter steering, but then you also loose out on some controls and you get a steering wheel that will wear and ball up (alcantera).
I also think the value atleast goes up a little for it being a 6 spd since it seems like there a harder find nowadays.
Just my opinion. Im gonna try to work it down to 30. We will see what happens.
The price seems kind of steep. I got my 04 TiAg/Black with 60K mi. for $23K last year. I'd say $28K is a fair price for the low mileage and the year. ZCP could add a bit of value but not ~$3K.
I disagree, eventhough the ZCP package isnt really anything special, a lot of people are willing to pay a premium for it. Take the OP and myself for example.
Zcp's are fvcking expensive especially with that low mileage and 6 SPEED!! Very worth the $32k in my opinon I was going to say $35k-$37k.. But then again thats just me because I appreciate the value of a well maintained car unlike others.
