door locks, no key fob or lock button...

Good evening,

Dumb problem, I can only lock and unlock my door with the key in the door locks.

the fob doesn't do anything and neither does the button on the center console.

so, keeping it simple, I examined the fuse diagram... I didn't see anything except central locking system. and i check all fuses and they all are good...

any input on this?

Central locking button goes bad in the console, the guts blow out the back, COMMON problem.

Find a Energizer keyfob tester at your local auto parts store

See this link, http://www.bmwgm5.com/

You can try to relearn the keyfob, but the batteries dies in these keyfobs. You can cut them open, BUT if you screw up, you will not be able to start the car.

Suggest you buy a new keyfob from the dealer, should be $160 unless they stick it to you. You can find them for $160 or ask for a discount and see if they give you one.

You really need more than 1 key for these cars and note the driver door lock linkage is make weak and WILL break.

So essentially, you think I have two problems. A bad center console button AND a dead key fob... together making it look like as though the problem is central to the locking system.

I follow.
