I'm thinking about getting VMR CSL reps for my 330ci. Just wondering what would look better. 18's or 19's. If you guys can post some pictures that would be helpful. Also if someone has a titanium silver with hypersilver wheels that would be even better. Thanks.
18's. Sorry but those who say 19 obviously don't DD their cars in the city. Think about how expensive tires are going to be, how easy it will be to curb rash them, and how much more susceptible to potholes you'll be.
Nor is the price difference in the tires. This will get expensive, and you will end up going with cheaper tires when you have to replace them, which can happen fast. I have seen a lot of cars with 19's and cheap, crappy tires on them. I assume they did not factor in the extra cost over the years. But, the OP may have deep pockets, and it may not matter.
Also, judging from his replies, he has already made up his mind, so I am not real sure why he posted this.

I posted this at the beginning of June when I was still deciding. I already got the ones I wanted. Some random guy bumped this thread thats why everyones commenting now! haha
Are you serious, or joking? Because I would love to get some nice looking 17's, something not too heavy. But I seem to be in the minority. 18 and 19in wheels are heavy, and slow your car down. If you look for really lightweight 18's or 19's, they get REALLY expensive, like 1/3 of the value of your car expensive. And I just can't do that. But it is getting very hard to find 17in wheels now. Most of the ones I like are not available in 17in.
Yeah I know 18's are more practical... but 19's just look so good! And I don't think I'll have a big issue with potholes and such... Its not to bad in norcal.
Yes and you also dont notice the potholes as much until you have larger rims. That is why I went with 18s. Great looks especially when lowered and still better performance without as much hassle.
18s are a good compromise between looks and performance. 19s look great but expect your handling and acceleration to take a dip. And this topic has been beaten to death with no clear answer. Now lets talk about oil or intakes please...
I've said it before but I must say it again.........SICK car Alex  Btw:not to switch topics but did you ever "wade" into the cross drilled rotor debate? What is your take?
depends on the roads for me not looks....here no larger than 18's. very rough roads, patch patch patch, and 4 feet by 1 feet deep pot holes. (monroe county mi)
I had 18" CSLs, ride was smooth, everything was fine to be honest.
Roads in my area and where I work aren't too bad so one day I was thinking about it and decided to see how much my 18's would sell for. Found a buyer to purchase them for a couple hundred less than what a new 19" set would cost me with tires included.
Decided to go for it and went with 19" CSLs.
Yes it's a bit bumpier but I forget all about that everytime I look at the car. With a proper drop, 19's can't be beat when it comes to looks.
Provided you have decent roads, I'd say go for it. If you don't however, I'd say to stay practical.
I have 18" staggered right now and i wish i got 19" sometimes, but ive had them for a month and one rim is already got 4 dents... damn city construction
I've been avoiding dundas for about a year now lol, im from suaga, whole god damn city centre (where I live/work) is doing new roads or expanding them for the last 2 years and if i try to avoid those, I have to drive on the roads with pothole heaven and uneven roads D:
If that is the case, you should just stick to 18's then. The moment you get 19's, you'll want it lowered as your wheel gap will be that much more noticeable.
not sure why this thread was bumped but you should get 18"s OP because 19"s are stupid looking. especially on a silver coupe. don't be a looser :tsk:
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
