I am looking at this BMW 330i for sale in the Faroe Islands. It has a complete aftermarket exhaust system, autowerke supercharger kit, and what looks like M-tech bumpers. It is a year 2002 model, has done 152.xxx kilometers. Has full leather cabin, Harman Kardon sound system and some other goodies. Dealer says it is in good condition. My question is since the asking price is around $17,500, is it worth buying it? I have a budget of around $20k.
I wouldn't buy that car. Just by the look of it I can tell you that the previous owner was most likely into riced out cosmetics and no maintenance. But OP I envy where you are from, Faroe Islands look like a dream to drive around with those tight twisty roads with an E46.
Yeah, it is a very nice place to drive around on a hot sunny day I agree on the rice part. Rims would probably be the first thing I'd change. It has been for sale for over a year now, and I'm sure I can get at least $2K off the price. I will take it for a test drive later this week and check what maintenance has been done to the car. Although, for the same price I can get a very nice looking 330ci clubsport. The amount of nice cars here is very little and e46 models other than 320's and 318's are hard to come by.
My other option is a 325i swapped 318i, full leather interior, multifunction steeringwheel, electric windows on all 4 doors. It is missing exhaust, has no plates and abs light is on. For around $2500.
That brand of Superchargers running on that exact motor does a VERY poor job of getting the AFR's correct, normally they run very lean & overtime fry the motor.
That's fairly well known fact about the AA SC on the 330. I would also stay away from that car because it would cost me too much to make it look decent again.
Are you not able to import? With your budget you can get far nicer cars than posted here. I bring in cars to Canada from over seas with no problem. Shipping isn't that horrible.
Yeah, also to register it I will have to get documents from BMW proving that the 318i's brakes and suspension is able to take the power from the 325i engine. Which could be quite hard.
There are some nice ones, but they are incredibly overpriced. I won't rush the purchase of my first BMW, I want it to be a good one I have owned a facelift Nissan Almera N16 sedan for a couple years, the lack of power is really bothering me.
I was going to say about the rust at the door and then saw the subframe, they actually trying to sell that POS? We had the same issues here importing cars from Europe (tax-wise) but now if it's older than 5 years the tax is very low (importing an M3 would cost around $30000 tax only, where now it's down to $10000)
What do you guys think about this one? Not a e46, but it might be within my budget at that price.
