A few months ago, I installed a new final stage resistor (FSR). While yanking the old one out, a metal rod which is attached to an adjoining bracket popped out of its hole in the firewall. I thought no biggy, I'll just push it back in. Well when I did, I couldn't feel where it attaches to.
Today while installing a siren, I found where the metal rod attaches to. It was a lot simpler than I thought. I just had to remove the cover beneath the filter housing. The rod goes through that rubber according thing and attaches to a plastic clip which in turn opens/closes the flap door for recirculating air.
Now here's the thing, I tested the flap motor by cycling the recirculating vent button on the dash. It doesn't do anything. No noises from the unit while I'm holding it in my hand, no movement of the metal rod. Nothing. I wonder if this is a common part to go dead and people just don't realize it? Funny thing is when I do press the recirculation button, you can hear buzzing/etc behind the dash which gives the illusion its working. But the actual part itself appears to be dead. I didn't reattach the rod for now cause what's the point if the motor that controls it is dead.
Can someone pop their glovebox off and see if theres any movement from this part? :hi:
Anyway, I zip-tied the siren for now until I receive the bracket. On a side note, the alarm isnt going off when I stick my hand inside the interior from the outside. And yes I waited 30 seconds... any ideas?
