My Ride: 2000 BMW 323i
2000 323i not shifting properly are there other causes besides trans?

I have a 2000 323i that won't go into overdrive and it won't shift till I take my foot off the pedal and let the RPM's drop.

Do you if there are any possible causes besides a tranny? I also have a cracked head gasket and want to know if it is worth fixing. If the trans is bad I will just sell it as a parts car, if it can be fixed without too much cost/trouble I will.

I need to look up the codes again as I forgot what they are. I can post later if I get any interest in this thread.

Thank you for any help!

Is your gear light on? How old is your battery? These cars are very sensitive to voltage drops. Fixing the head gasket is involved; here is a DIY.

Good luck!
