iv e46 320d sport 2004 i have 1 key and remote central locking does not work using it, i changed battery and tried all the possible ways to reset the system thing without success.. note that when i switch engine off after a drive and take key out of ignition it should unlock the doors but it doesnt, i also have bmw x5 which unlocks all doors when taking key out of ignition..could it be the GM5 module gone? the inside lock button works fine and i checked central locking fuses everything works as it should apart from remote locking

General module found fine. The automatic unlocking is a car/key memory setting and is probably not enabled or they key is no good. Did you verify that the old battery was bad and needed to be replaced. I bet it was fine.

1. Locks all doors and trunk
2. Unlock (depending on programming once or twice for all doors )
3. Trunk unlock

Wow, sorry to revive an old thread again...

I recently bought this car and it came with (count 'em) 5 keys! 3 master, valet, and emerg. Anyways, guy said the batteries were dead in the other keys and only one master was opening the doors with the fob.

I was going to open up the key and replace the batteries when I read that they were actually rechargeable! So over a few days I drove with each of the master keys and tried this trick.

One of the keys is indeed dead, but I was able to re-sync the two other master keys! ***55357;***56593; ***55357;***56593; Woohoo!

Thanks OP!!!
