Approx cost of the rebuilt Valeo? I had to spring for one at 5 PM on a Saturday at the dealer when my alt blew. Had no idea NAPA carried a rebuilt version

I'm saving this thread for later. I'm sure I'll need a new battery in the coming months.

I just replaced my battery over the weekend with an EverstartMaxx H8 battery from Walmart. It fits great, has a 5 year warranty and was $123 (I saw comparable batteries and Advance Auto and Autozone going for $180+). It has two vent holes and comes with a plug for one hole and an adapter to connect the other hole to the vent tube in the car. If any of you buy this battery make sure you have a zip tie as well. I had to use one to make sure the vent adapter that came with the battery stays inside of the vent tube since they were not a perfect fit.

I'm still running my original battery from build date January 2005.
Car cranks fine, but haven't bothered checking the voltage. I've been reconditioning it twice every year and usually charging the battery to full every week using a CTEK MUS 4.3 charger
Not sure if should go buy a new battery or keep this one for "research" purposes and see how long it will last

Any news on a go-to battery. I was shocked to see a bosch battery at close to $300. Autozone for a Duralast is $206(use to be like $80 a few years ago). And Walmart has a Maxx for $150.

Am I missing any deals? I don't mind paying money for a good battery, but after buying "preimium" batteries and having them fail often, I'm really sick of this battery stuff. I've never had a battery last more then 5 years. (no sound system, no heavy usage)

Anyone know of a good deal out there?

Just got a Bosch S5572B put in my 2005 330ci convertible. What is confusing is that the sticker on the battery reads 790CCA and 970CA whereas the online like pelican parts and Bosch hows it as 730CCA. Confused.....

cold cranking amps vs cranking amps.

cca is measured at freezing 32f

ca is measured at 0f thus the amp difference

the batteries could possibly be different?

You tell me. Unless Bosch has "premium private" stock for worldpac - where my battery came from.

New battery - info

Just wanted to list everyone know that right now sams club has the Duracell platinum 49h8 for 140 bucks. Picked one up yesterday. This is about the best battery you can buy in my opinion. (made by east penn 850cca) batteries plus sells the same battery for 200. .. The paets stores batteries are a little more expensive to, but are made by Johnson.

I bought this one this past week for my 2002 325i. I would recommend the absorbed glass mat technology (AGM) if you can spend a few extra dollars. I think you will find most of the AGM batteries are made by one manufacturer and prices seem to be from $170.00 - $220.00 around town. I got the biggest one available for my E46. I got the H8 850 CCA. It can be found cheaper but I just wanted to take 30 minutes and have it all done.

I'm willing to spend the extra money on a quality battery. How come no one gets batteries from the dealer?

Because they are twice the money. I read that a AGM battery at the dealer is over $400. All the new cars use AGM technology

The battery you suggested is for a 325i. When I search for 328i batteries the one you suggested doesn't show up:

https://www.batteriesplus.com/batter...l6-2.8l-765cca

Does it matter?

It all depends on the size of the battery. I am not sure but I think your battery mounting plate will accept several size batteries. Mine did.
