Great video! What is the camera you used? Cool interface! Is that a software or something? Could you tell me your recording setup?

Here's the setup:
  • Camera: GoPro Hero. Note: I shoot in "wide" not "superwide". Superwide sucks because it produces too much of a fisheye result.
  • Software: Harry's Lap Timer. I have the Grand Prix Edition, for use w/ an external camera. The camera is connected to my phone via wifi. This allows Harry's app to turn the camera on and off.
  • Data Input: PLX Kiwi3. This plugs into your OBD port and uses bluetooth to push the car's data to your phone and Harry's app.
  • Phone: iPhone 6. The central brain of everything involved.
  • Camera Mount: 8" drop down adjustable mount. Light deleted, suction cup mounts to sheet metal.
  • Phone Mount: Bimmian iPhone mount. The absolute best.

Rough Costs:
Camera - $200
Software - $28
Ceiling Mount - $20
Phone Mount - $30
OBD2 Reader - $99

The only hard to find item is phone mount:
https://bimmian.com/Accessories-for-...le-Dash-Mount/

And one other tip, plug in the iphone & gopro between sessions, because the setup uses a lot of battery power to run and even just to have "on" and ready.

Full Disclosure: It's kind of a pain to figure it all out and then to make the video in post-production. Here's the high-level on how I do it ..
1) pair the phone w/ obd2 reader KIWI3
2) pair the phone with the external camera
3) press video and wait for the red light on the camera
4) record session (you'll know it's recording w/ red light on)
5) bring the footage onto your iphone (takes a while)
6) overlay and create the video
7) push to youtube OR push to your computer, then youtube
8) share !

Also, if you check the Palmer video on my YouTube channel, you'll see I got the mount for that setup and the G's are registering correctly. The NHMS video at the PCA event was my first time with the new setup and I didn't have the Bimmian mount yet.
