Thanks for the info, I think my ecu is going bad that's why I'm asking. Would be greatly appreciated what was the cost exactly.

It's a little late now but FYI assuming the DME was actually damaged, which I doubt, you could have paid one of many tuners to flash a used DME to work with your car.

Yeah, it's actually not hard at all to clone an MS45. I got one out of a 2006 X3 for $20, just copied my ZHP's internal flash, external flash, and eeprom to the DME, and it just works.

Such a sad story. Bummer the shark didn't load properly, but even worse you ended up taking it to a dealer. Double-boned.

Like ti was said, I'm sure a tuner could have revived the DME for you.

You need something that can talk to an mpc555 processor over BDM. I used an xprog-m, but other hardware like the BDM100 works well too. Then you basically dump everything from the original DME and flash it to the target.

I wish I knew about computers. At least I know what to look for now.

Well, I picked up the car today and I am just glad to have it back. The guys at the dealership cut me the best deal they possibly could, $1,700 for the dme including the core charge and 700 something for the instrument cluster. With the labor and everything it came out to be $2,800. I also sent my shark off back to turner hopefully they will honor the refund (that is if it ever gets there as it seems they have no priority in return shipping.) The car runs great now and after talking to the guys at the dealer (who are dinan certified) I can't stop kicking myself over the fact that dinan stage 2 software would be the same cost as the shark WITH the labor charge and if the dme was fried with the dinan software it would have been someone else paying for it not me as it would seem dinan has warranties and actually backs up their work. Maybe in the future I will get to it.

Man, it's insane BMW charges so much for electronics that were designed in the late 90s to early 2000s. Probably costs no more than $100 to build an MS45. Probably Siemens takes a good chunk of that $1700 though.

With such a strong reputation within the community of being a knock out "can't go wrong" product, this is by far the worst case scenario, and the only one I've heard of at that.

I don't know what went wrong, but dealer expenses aside, you got the bad end of the poop stick.

Yeah its a shame I would have loved for it to work out just to fix some of the trottle lag, but anyways when driving the car today I noticed an issue, the rear vent windows would not open right or left, but when I parked the car and used the key shortcut to open the windows, they opened. I checked the fuses and they seemed to be fine, not really sure what might be causing the switches not to work but they definately did before all of this.

Just to update I took the car by the dealer again today and they fixed the windows apparently it was a fuse, and they also turned on the daytime running lights because for whatever reason they were off. The car has been running great with the new dme, I would even say better than before because I am sure the software on the car was not the most recent version.

I just reflash my ecu with the shark injector software with no problems.
Do you think you used the wrong software?
