I need help trying to figure out whats wrong

Hello everyone,

I have a 2001 bmw 325i e46 thats misfiring pretty bad. I have changed the coils and spark plugs and still misfires when i turn it on?!?. Scanned it and giving me misfires on cylinders 1 and 4. The previous owner did not take care of this car for $@%##! Only took care of interior and exterior but denied the upkeep. So far i have changed the plugs, coils, Disa valve unit, front control arm and bushings, water pump (which almost resulted in a catastrophic failure with old water pump while i was on the road), water pump pulley and cleaned ICV , radiator flush and window regulators. My next project is maybe vanos seals.

The car runs fine after i restart it but if i try running it the first time it runs like poop and shakes pretty bad. A mechanic told me its the fuel injectors leaking and flooding the cylinders, you guys think this might be true? This is my first BMW and so far im loving it and love working on it but thats the only issue i have. Any ideas? Thanks

What are the actual codes you're getting? What reader are you using?

Vacuum leaks are the most likely problem.

Fuel injectors used by BMW are pretty hardy. I'd take the mechanic's belief with a large grain of salt as the car seems to run ok at different times. Has the fuel pump ever been replaced? How many miles since the fuel filter was replaced? Follow jfoj's advice. He's the resident guru.
