Favor from a SoCal fanatic???
So It might be a long shot but is there anyone in the LA or SD area that would be willing to let me try their working MAF in my 330ci? I've not been able to solve my misfires and I've all but ruled out intake leaks. The last 5 fuel pressure gauge kits I borrowed from auto parts stores were either missing schrader adapters or they were stripped or didn't work so haven't ruled fuel out yet but I'd like to be able to rule out my MAF. I've tried cleaning it twice now with no change.
I'm a college student and can't afford to just replace it unless its definitely the problem. Thanks in advance for any help. |

Thank you! I'm in Diamond Bar but I'm driving to Escondido tomorrow. Would you mind if I stop on the way? Do you have a favorite beer? PM if you'd be able to do tomorrow. Thanks again

O.P first and foremost if the MAF is bad it will throw a code. Try to scan it and see what codes you come up with and post it and let me see if I can help. The most obvious symptom of MAF failure is a "CFL" light. When an engine sensor fails, the vehicle computer reverts to code values stored in memory to compensate for the loss of a signal from the sensor involved and it goes into limp mode.
If the MAF is bad you would definantly know since it will be hard to start the vehicle; running very rich or very lean fuel mixture starts and immediately stalls, hesitation in engine; rough idle, or "hiccup" when accelerating you feel it bogging. If its fuel pressure then your car wont be able to run correctly. Missfires are usually caused by bad coil, a foul or old plug or low compression. I guess what Im trying to say is scan it first and post the codes but dont waste your time with the MAF. Cool? Last edited by m3cabrio; 01-16-2013 at 05:37 PM. |
