I love GTRs but your M plus 50k cash for a GTR with 21.5k miles isn't exactly a good deal... You could find a GTR with that kind of mileage for about 55k right now. Remember, the GTR is a super car and will need some major servicing soon at that mileage. So prepare to pay some super car maintenance costs.
I'm not sure what the GTR's servicing intervals are, but if you put it in the same super car category as a Lamborghini or Ferrari, then it will at that mileage. Then again it's a Nissan and could probably go longer without maintenance. Nonetheless, servicing costs are ridiculous with these cars, it's not like servicing an M.
Brake job costs about $4,000, that's changing both rotors and pads. Tires are $2,000+ every 5-10,000 miles. God, I love the GTR!!! Get him to go down to 40k and go for it!!!
Wow its really that expen$ive to maintain the GT-R? I mean why so expensive? What kind of "special" oil does it use? I personally think a lot of these prices are artificially jacked up....

If i buy i'd keep for a year, two at most and probably put less than 10k kms on it so let just hope the current owner had a service recently lol.
I usually keep my cars for 2-3 years and never had to do brakes..! My M3 is probably on factory brakes and they are still good, not sure on that 2 other owners before me.
I know i need to be at the track every weekend!
Do we have any gt-r owners on this forum? Shi t would be nice to be the first

If he did the servicing at 30k kms then go for it... but I doubt he did though. People usually sell their super cars at the 20k miles mark because they don't want to pay to service them. Also remember that after 2 track days, you're going to need a new set of brakes... if even that.
My buddy traded his GTR for the 996 Turbo GT3, and missed his 2010 GTR so much he went and bought the 2013 GTR. He said the 996 Turbo is a fast car and fun to drive, but he said the GTR hands down he liked better. But he has both cars so he's a lucky sob!!! lol
GT-R maint. is a pain in the ass. However for $50K+ the M is not quite a bad deal. The M is good for a daily. GT-R will be your daily or you have another for daily? GT-R is not good for daily IMO.
I hear alot of bullshit , A LOT gtr owners please chime in , brakes are obviously going to be expensive **** you go upgrade your brakes, now to replace the brakes (pads and rotors) with same stopping power you are going to paying the same so **** , People are screaming maintainance thats just a stupid excuse
Lol I remember maybe about a year ago my brother and I were driving home from the mall and I raced a GT-R. Wasn't really a race, I took off he didn't t know we were racing, but at the next light things got fun for a little haha. I had my brother record it, but he was mad at me atm so he was more watching and admiring the GT-R, did a horrible camera job. Still, I probably have the video on my computer somewhere, I'll look for it when I get home.
As for trading it, have no idea what GT-Rs go for or what maintenance costs looks like. I know everything is more than an M, but if you can afford it, why not?
I recently and extensively test drove a 2010 GT-R. While it has tons of power and is "stupid fast", I was bored with the paddle shifters quickly. The car has a ton of power, accelerates hard, brakes hard, turns quickly....the whole deal. But do I really want to spend $65k on one? No way, especially knowing that the previous owner(s) beat on it and it may have transmission issues long term that Nissan won't cover.
Also, maintenance is a colossal expense. Expect $2k for tires, $800 rear differential fluid changes, $300 oil changes, etc. It's not cheap to maintain in any way, shape, or form. I'll stick to my E46 M3.
My friend has a gtr. While he says its a cool car he would rather have his sc m3 back. A z06 on the other hand is cheaper, faster, (with a few bolt ons), and cheaper to maintain than our m3s.
GTR is still a nissan, with supercar slapped on it. The build is where its at not the parts used to build.
I got Gallardo which is probably a good comparison, I can go take this to a dealership where I spend money to sit and be treated like VIP or I can take it to a smart well qualified person who can do the samething.
Someone show me where the $300 oil change goes, or Diff fluid change.
yea there are things that go wrong that you can only replace with a oem parts
Look, I see and respect your opinion so I'm not going to continue to argue with you nor argue which car (or supercar) is better. However, if you really look at the specs and lap times, the GTR destroys the Lamborghini Gallardo in every way. Supercars nowadays are made so advanced, and have such quick lap times, as well as 1/4 mile and 0-60 times, that the Gallardo is no longer considered a "supercar". Instead, it's considered an exotic car because it's rare and expensive. Just because it's a Lamborghini with a big price tag, doesn't make it a supercar, just like how most don't consider the Ferrari California a supercar (I know some may beg to differ, but I'm saying this in the same way someguy is arguing that a "Nissan" GTR is not a supercar). The Lamborghini Murciélago LP670-4 SV and Aventador, however, are most definitely supercars. Even then, the GTR has a more superior twin-clutch gearbox than Lamborghini Aventador's twitchy single-clutch gearbox.
In my opinion, a car has to meet certain performance standards in order to be called or considered a supercar, and they must come like that straight from the factory (no aftermarket turbo or s/c added on to make those numbers). For those that think the GTR is not a supercar because it's "just a Nissan", and that the price is ridiculous for no reason... you have to consider the fact that Nissan spent a ton of money researching and engineering this vehicle to meet the supercar standard and to compete with it's biggest rival, the 911 Turbo. So please don't sit there and tell me that the GTR is not technologically advanced because it's as advanced as they come. This is why the maintenance intervals for a GTR are similar to that of Ferrari or Lamborghini, to keep it's expensive high performance parts from failing. /rant
Stick w/ your M. For the $30k still in your pocket you can buy a backup M3, and a SC and all the other go fast bits, then take what ever is left and send it to my paypal account as a consulting fee.
$30k is a bunch of cash, that's almost in the range of a used Ariel Atom, Caterham 7, ect. not to mention the things you can find on ebay motors in the sub $30k range are crazy. Then you'll have you M3 as a daily and a trackday/weekend car.
I still disagree with you. Its too much premium you're giving to the dealer for the change, and what dealer are you going to take this too? Is there a special dealership or do you just go to Nissan?
And if they are taking it to same dealership as nissan versa, whats so special in the changing of oil. Dont tell me the filter is $100 because its still a car or do they bring their own GTR certified mechanic just for this car (Top Mechanic of the shop)?
The filter isn't $100, it's actually the cheapest part at around 20 bucks. It's the GTR specific motor oil that's a little more expensive and the motor requires 6-7 quarts. The labor is still the same as any other Nissan (maybe just a tad more). This isn't a real shock considering BMW also has Castrol TWS for M cars going for about $16 a liter. $300 is the average estimated price, many dealers will do the full job for 200-$250. Like I said before, this is how much a BMW dealership will usually charge for an oil change on an M car.. I really don't know what the big fuss is over GTR oil change prices. I think it's just one small reason to cling on to this GTR hate :rofl::rofl:.
just wait for the m4 if your gonna drop 50k. by then youd save up to atleast 64k
