My Ride: 2000 323Ci Cabrio

Like to say hello to all, haven't had a Bimmer in a while.

My first BMW was a brand new 1970 2002Tii bought in Germany while I was stationed at the sub base in Holy Loch Scotland. Shipped it home and kept that car for seven years and 150,000+ miles.

Multiple job transfers, kids, and other family first needs demanded more mundane transportation for years until I acquired a two year old 1985 325E sedan automatic in 1987. Not quite the "conduite sportive" of the old 2002Tii but a nice ride.

Spent the last 15+ years restoring a succession of American muscle cars but became nostalgic for another BMW.

Recently came across a very clean 2000 323Ci convertible, sport suspension with 18's, (not the M5 I was hoping to find but a nice looking cruiser), 70,000+ miles, I bought from the original owner. It was her "summer car" and she had started to incur some of the maintenance expenses associated with a car of this age and mileage and decide to move on to a new 4 series.

She had already replaced the water pump & associated tanks, Front & rear suspension bushings, control arms & alignment, new tires, battery, alternator, idler, belts, fuel system service, etc all at BMW dealership (ouch).

I threw in a new set of plugs, wires, and replaced the power steering pump & tank. Going to have the automatic trans checked by a local foreign car speciality shop since I couldn't find any record of service in all the receipts that came with the car. We'll see what happens throughout summer hoping I don't find any big surprises.

Awesome ride. Welcome aboard. This forum is one of the best resources on the web for information and help for these cars. there is a handfull of people here that are willing to (and enjoy) help you with any questions you may have, unfortunately there are also a handfull of people that go out of their way to engage in smack and trash talk. I just disregard them. Anyway I love and support this site.
